Cyanotypes

All of the images in this gallery were made using the cyanotype process. Cyanotypes are one of the earliest photographic printing processes. All you need to create them is the chemicals, some water, a negative, a contact printer and some ultra-violet light. I use the sun. Some cyanotypes look great as tones of blue but I sometimes prefer to tone them. There are several toning techniques that can be employed. I use tea to tone mine and have used coffee and wine on occasion to get different results.

The cyanotypes on this page are from my experimentations with the process.
